Make and Take Workshop / All-American Festival
Build Your Own Dulcimer!
Friday, June 13 / Saturday, June 14, 2008
Special 2-Day Workshop — part of the Mill Race Village All-American Festival
Cost: $75; supplies included
Class is limited to 10 students
Instructor: Rich Carty
Friday Workshop
We will start building dulcimers on Friday afternoon/evening, using Black Mountain paper tune dulcimer kits. These kits make great starter dulcimers — and also are good to have around when the grandchildren or nieces, nephews and neighbors want to try out a dulcimer. These are also good to have for camping trips or vacations when you don't want to take your custom-ordered dulcimer. (Rich kept one in his locker at work when he was in the National Guard.)
Saturday Workshop
On Saturday morning, you will learn to string your dulcimer and add personalized finishing touches to the instrument. After that, you will have your first dulcimer lesson. On Saturday afternoon, we will have a jam session!
Please note:
This class is limited to 10 people, so stop by the shop for a registration form — and get your registration in early. A $25 deposit is due when you sign up to hold your place. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All tools will be supplied by Pinelands Folk Music & Basketry Center.
